Santa Claus is 'Crawling' to town: SoNo Santa Crawl is Saturday

Santa is coming to South Norwalk this holiday season in a whole new way.

The first SoNo Santa Crawl is planned Saturday, from noon to 8 p.m., at neighborhood drinking and dining establishments. For a $10 registration fee, participants can visit these establishments to sample special drinks and food.

Participants are also encouraged to dress up like Santa, an elf or some other holiday-themed character.

The list of participating establishments includes: Black Bear Saloon, Bradford's, Donovan's, the Gingerman, Guvnor's Brewery, Mama's Boy, O'Neill's and SoNo Pizza.

After paying the registration fee, visitors can purchase $3, $4 and $5 drink specials, receive a souvenir Santa Crawl cup and T-shirt, and get free parking at the Maritime Aquarium garage.

The idea for the Santa Crawl was suggested by Shawn Baker of the Black Bear Saloon, who had attended similar events in New York City. "I just love downtown South Norwalk and want to see more people introduced to the bars/restaurants and nightlife that it has to offer," Baker said in a press release announcing the event. "As far as I know it is the first event of its kind. However, I do hope that in the future we can do a number of these types of events in SoNo because it is set up perfectly for this kind of cross-promotional event."
